I have to tell you that the kids beamed with excitement as we drove down to Anaheim Pond, but soon became saddened at the idea of sitting near the roof of the arena.
One hundred dollars later, we were sitting five rows off the ice. Was it worth it? It was to my five year old daughter as she saw her favorite Disney Characters come alive before her very eyes.
The show began as the jungle boy lost his footing on some wet ice. The kids had no idea, as he played it off beautifully.
Then a treasure book of characters came on stage and performed as they promoted "Reading is Fun."
Snow White was narrated by no other than that famous mouse... Mickey Mouse! With each word he read, this timeless treasure came alive.
But wait, it gets black, there's a familiar tune, there's singing... who could it be?
It's the Seven Dwarfs!!! The crowd goes wild with applause, clapping and whistling. One of the dwarfs gets the crowd actively involved in singing to the happy tune of "Hi Ho Hi Ho It's off to work we go..."
The story continues to unfold before our very eyes. Snow White is driven to the forrest, the Dwarfs fall in love with Snow White, the Queen becomes the witch and meets up with Snow White.
Snow White holds the apple up to the audience, as if beckoning them to answer her unspoken question, "Should I eat the apple?" The audience takes the hint and yells back, "NO!"
But the evil witch was too smart for the princess and she bites into the apple. She falls into a deep sleep... that is, until the Prince comes to give her that life saving kiss.
But wait, the show isn't over... there's a Grand Ball, with lots of dancing...there's Beauty and the Beast, Alladin and Jasmine, Ariel and Eric, Donald and Daisy, Mickey and Minnie, and so many more timeless characters.
As it ends, my ten year old turns to me and says, "Disney on Ice is COOL! Can we come again?"
