Calico Ghost Town

Ever wonder what it was really like in the Old West? Then you will have to step back in time and visit the Ghost Town of Calico, California.

According to reports, Calico existed in 1881 as a silver mining town. It had 22 saloons, mercantile stores, and families.

So what is there to do at Calico? It depends on the time of year that you plan your visit....

President's Day Week-end experience a real live Civil War!

Mother's Day Week-end, enjoy a fabulous Chili cook off and music festival!

Columbus Day Week-end, enjoy a live gun fight, and experience the town as it was when mining days were alive and kicking.

Halloween Week-end, enjoy Maggies Haunted Mine for some old fashioned Scaring!

Thanksgiving Week-end, enjoy some chuck wagon and shooting competitions!

Christmas time, enjoy carols, a tree lighting ceremony and a reading of Twas the Nite before Christmas!

But I have to warn you, call to make sure something is going on before you arrive. We have been during the "down-time" and found it quite boring.

So where is this Ghost Town?
