Ensenada, Mexico is only a 70 minute drive from San Diego, which means that you can make this a day trip or find a nice hotel and make a vacation of it. You could even take a four day cruise, out of San Pedro Harbor and spend the day in Ensenada while the boat is docked. That of course, is what we did three years ago.
We took our two children, then three and seven on a three day cruise and explored a few of Ensenada’s natural wonders. The culture shock took a little getting used to, as my children saw run-down streets and buildings in need of much repair. But I must admit that it looked a lot better than the last time I saw it. Seems the new political team has plans to clean up the city and make it something to be proud of, again. It is said that Ensenada offers more than any other town in Mexico. With it’s world famous Papas and Beer bar, college students from around the world, hurry to Ensenada for school breaks! With it's historical heritage and nearby missions definitely make this a fascinating place to visit. Lets caption some of the things you can do in Ensenada, Mexico: Nearby wineries offer wine tasting tours. The missions range as old as 1752 to 1783, but nothing is more exciting than watching gray whales in their natural habitat, the ocean. The La Bufadora blowhole shots water seventy feet in the air, which always seems to capture the attention of any passerby. And, the Catavina Cave Painting will fascinate any beginning to advance artist, with its primitive rock art. They estimate it to be anywhere from 600 to 1000 years old! But wait, are you missing those modern day attractions? Have no fear because Epocas Family Amusement Center offers video games, go-carts, and a playground.
