Budget Birthday PartiesChildren of all ages love birthday parties. But how does one put a party together when funds are limited? Can children still have a great party without all the frills? Most certainly, yes! When money is a problem, consider the following alternatives: 1. Make your own invitations. You can use 5x7 card stock, or print a flyer up on the computer. 2. Make your cake from scratch. Better yet, let the kids make the cake. Think of the thrill they will get when they get to brag to all their friends, that the cake being eaten, is one that they made! 3. Ask family and close friends to potluck items. Let them know that you will return the favor. Never ask acquaintances or school buddies to bring anything, that's just plain "tacky." 4. Consider serving punch from a powdered package instead of purchasing expensive cans of soda. 5. Decide on a theme for the party based on items that you already possess. For instance, you could take out your fourth of July decorations and plan a "Grand America" theme. 6. Entertainment can be something as simple as Pictionary, water balloon fights, dancing to some of your favorite CD's, and playing limbo with an ordinary broomstick.
