Apple Season at Oak Glen

It’s apple season in Oak Glen, which makes it the perfect time to visit. Depending on the crop, apple season can begin in September and end around Christmas time. Oak Glen is open year-round and derives most of its revenue from tourists, but it’s Apple Season that seems to bring in the big bucks.

During the apple season, people from all over Southern California arrive to pick fresh apples right off the trees. But it doesn’t stop there, one can also pick pears and berries. There is absolutely nothing more fun than watching your child scream, shout, and run with excitement from one tree (or bush) to another, happily picking away.

This is a great place to take the kids. They will learn how to press apple cider ($6.50 per gallon), make a 15 foot rope ($5), learn to grind corn ($2.75 per pound), and have a go at knife throwing, and tomahawk archery ($1 per session). And if you decide to stay for lunch, they do offer barbecue hot dogs and apple sausages.

October: Johnny Appleseed will be around telling young children folk tales.

November: The Saturday after Thanksgiving starts their Christmas season with carolers, Santa, and more.

Wood Acres Apple Ranch:

This farm has over 200 apple varieties to choose from, some are even considered antique and hard to find.

Oak Tree Village:

38550 Oak Glen Rd., Oak Glen, CA (909) 797-4020 Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This village comes with its own miniature zoo, historical wildlife museum and reptile cave, trout fishing, and stores galore.
