Review by Braynon, the blue head pionus.

I raised my head, peering over my food dish. My foot paused, sunflower seed held poised between my beak and the food bowl. Suddenly, I heard macaws. I fluffed my feathers, then smoothed them again, thinking that I can't be hearing macaws. Sam and I are the largest birds mommy has, and we're just pionus'.

Then, softly, the sound of water comes to me. Over this, a light Latin beat, that though I've not heard in this life, my heart tells me it is from home. I fluffed my head feathers and fanned my tail, surely one of these birds I'm hearing will see my pionus strut and come visit. Alas, although I listened to their song, and even joined in with a few raucous cries of my own, no new femme fatales visited.

Then, mom explained that this is Rainforest Rhythms, a Nature's harmony cassette that she had purchased. Although I do not understand the wonders of modern recorded music, I did understand that those birds were just sounds (how did they do that?), and I had no new playmates.

Still, the music made me think of an ancestral home that my parents told me about in the nestbox, a land of towering trees, great animals, and a great river.

"The exotic feel of the South American rain forest is captured as luxurious melodies unite with the earthy pulse of the tropics. Listen to the music and feel one with the mysterious world of the Amazon" - quote from back of cassette.
