Alaska Tough
They weren't just put-out by the baby's presence, they hated it! The presence of this sweet child even drove them to fight between each other. I had the baby in my arms and took a sudden left to go down the hall, and three cats nearly climbed the walls to get out of my way. Now it's the next day, and the baby's mother has come to pick him up. I thought the cats would all be much happier with me, getting their house and bed back. But, no. No, they are all angry with me. It may be jealousy, or it may be that I've defiled their most sacred sanctuary by bringing that child into it, but not a one of them will sit still while I pet them. Eddie even gave me a scolding when I picked her up. Charlotte just gives me dirty looks and I'm sure she's calling me such names as "Baby Lover" and "Traitor". Hobo is hiding in the top shelf of the closet, Olive doesn't really care as long as I don't mess with the food bowls, and Tubby (aka Tummy) waited until he was gone to eat the cracker crumbs on the floor, and she'll have no part of me. Ashes wouldn't even come in the house, so I know he's not happy with me. I'm a little nervous. These are Alaska tough-cats, and they won't take too much more from me before they mutiny. I'm probably lucky I get to live with them still. If you're nuts about cats, here's a few good places to spend some time. Amy Larkin's story about a wildcat born from a frozen embryo.
