Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) Part TwoTalk about RLS with your family members, friends, and coworkers. Tell them about your symptoms and what it is like when the sensations get severe. Then they will more likely understand when they see pacing the floor late at night, massage your limbs in the middle of the day or getting up constantly during a movie to walk off the pain in your leg. Don't ignore your symptoms. Do something that you have found will relieve it. Fighting your condition by trying to ignore or suppress it could make it worse. Start and maintain an RLS Diary. Record what medications you take, what activities helped or did not help your conditions and any other observations you find might help you. Periodically show this information to your doctor. It is essential that you keep your mind busy and not dwell on your symptoms. Take up a hobby. Get involved in clubs or organizations that you are interested in. Take up some type of activity that keeps you active. Discuss what might help with your doctor. A key to learning to live with RLS as with any debilitating condition is to rise above it. Find ways to use it to motivate yourself to news heights. Someone once said that in ever misfortune lay the seeds of good fortune. It is up to you.
