What I Love Most About Being Single

Although I am currently in a relationship, I am not living with my boyfriend so technically I am single. You have heard me go on and on at length about my love for the single life (which can and does at this time include a significant relationship) – so this week, I decided to list the things I love about being single. (Note to BF: some of these were from when I was sans-boyfriend, don’t take offense!)

What I Love Most About Being Single

- The toilet seat is always down

- Wearing ratty old boxer shorts and a T-shirt to bed

- Sharing my bed with only Sparky

- Eating straight out of the take-out Chinese food container

- No hairs in the bathroom sink

- No makeup all weekend long

- Cooking only when I want to

- First dates

- Happy hour with the girls

- “Forgetting” to shave my legs

- Watching Lifetime Movie Network (or as an ex-boyfriend dubbed it, “Vagina TV”) for twelve hours straight

- Taking off on an impromptu road trip and not having to explain

- Vacation sex

- Flirting with strangers

- Dressing up and going dancing

- Reading in bed until 4 a.m. without worrying about waking anyone

- Buying underwear I like

- Not ever having to watch an action movie again

- Guy friends

- The possibility of meeting that next new “someone” being around every corner

- Lying in bed for hours on the weekend, just reading or napping

- Making all the decisions

- Spending my money the way I want to

- Not having to justify anything to anybody

Remember, there IS life outside a relationship. I wouldn’t trade my boyfriend for the world (well, maybe for Scott Weiland, but I’m not holding my breath on that one!), but if I were to find myself without a relationship tomorrow, I know from experience that life would still provide excitement and fun once more. And from experience I also know, life will eventually send love my way again. So enjoy the single times while you are in them!
