To Play Or Not To Play

what could have been promising ended suddenly, without a word from Gary. In all fairness (even though I’ve been on the receiving end of this myself), I cannot blame him. In being that honest, Emily appeared to have no life, even if it wasn’t true. That puts a lot of pressure on the other person. If you are all someone has, what happens if you decide to do something on your own or with someone else? Will this person fall apart without you? It can be overwhelming and just a little bit scary.

Then there is good ol’ human nature: we tend to want what we cannot have, we crave a challenge. And there is nothing challenging at all about someone willing to turn their lives inside out to be with you.

So how to strike that balance – keep ‘em guessing long enough to keep their interest without sending them away with too much too soon? If you figure it out, let me know. I’m still working on that one.
