Reducing Stresses

Although some tasks are mandatory, modifying the way or order you do them can minimize stress. Try planning your day the night before, using a to do list and placing the most important or unpleasant tasks first. It’s important to set realistic goals while planning. If you can’t fit everything into one day, try to prioritize and eliminate any tasks that aren’t mandatory. Enlisting the help of your family can also free up precious time; have your children help you prepare dinner or clean up. Always be sure to leave adequate time to get to an appointment or function; being late can trigger more stress and tension. Remember to plan at least one enjoyable activity each day; this can help keep things in perspective and give you something to look forward to.

Exercise

Relaxing can also happen naturally after exercising. You do not need to exercise vigorously to help your body relax. Even light physical activity such as walking or gardening can be beneficial. Exercising can also improve your over all health at the same time. By staying healthy with your family, you can help reduce the chance of health related problems in the future. In addition you can use exercise to spend more quality time with your family, by going for walks, hikes, playing catch or bike riding.

These exercises may help to reduce your stress but nothing can eliminate it. I think being aware of what triggers stress for you is the best starting point. Once you identify the cause, you can then use these tips to minimize the effects of stress and stay balanced.
