Six easy ways to save money

5. Second hand, consignment stores, and garage sales can be another good way to save money. If you haven’t tried it think of the amount of times that you buy something new and never use it. There is an art to second hand shopping. I have a few tips to share that have taken me years to learn. When you are shopping for clothing it is better to know what items you need before you go. I keep fashion magazines from the previous year and look for similar styles. This makes it easy to find popular colors and styles. Inspect everything before leaving the store, after trying it on double check for stains, rips, and defects. You can use the same idea for furniture, lots of decor magazines offer sections on thrift store finds.

6. Entering Contests can be an easy way to save. Imagine if you win concert tickets that you originally planned to buy, this saves money. In the past two years I have won CDs, concert tickets, books, cloths, movie passes, hotel stays and a digital camera. If you don’t have an entertainment budget, contests may be an alternative to staying home. If you don’t enter you can’t win. Once you start looking you will notice they are everywhere. Your favorite stores, radio stations, magazines and websites are good places to look. I will caution if you enter online check that the contest is not a gimmick to get your e-mail address. Investigate the contest before your e-mail is full of spam.
