Finding Fun in Everyday Things: Toilet Paper

They call their site a society because they offer a forum for discussion and link to other people's sites devoted to TP.

The site is very low tech, yet enjoyable, with links to other pages (other museums, articles, and their song about TP) as well as some advertising for their current music CD! My favorite part was looking at the toilet paper collection of the site creator's grandmother. It seems in 1959, granny started collecting samples of toilet paper from around the world. I also enjoyed the Celebrities Signatures on Toilet Paper Page.

A few other toilet paper sites of interest:

  • Just Toilet Paper is a store that specializes in custom-made toilet paper. They have verything from seasonal to political toilet paper.
  • Nobody's Perfect is a charming little virtual museum complete with free virtual souvenirs a history of toilet paper, galleries (contemporary and vintage brands on display), and more. After our visit, we went to the gift store and picked up our free virtual t-shirt (below)

Our tour through the universe of toilet paper on the 'net was enjoyable and we definitely learned a lot more about the little paper that could than we ever thought we would!

It's fun finding out about things with your child! I always seem to learn more when I have Wyatt beside me asking me questions. Researching everyday items with your child doesn't take a lot of time and it really helps them with their research skills. This project has thus prompted my son into wanting to research the history of a lot of things he's interested in.

Until next time, remember to put the seat down and use the paper sparingly!
