Spring Break

March 28 - April 3

Wyatt and I were fortunate to get our breaks at the same time this year. We planned to spend time hanging out with friends, exploring the city, and having as much fun as we could without spending a lot of money in the process.

Easter Sunday--Starting Our Break Early!

"Mom! Get up! It's Spring Break! What are we going to do first?" exclaimed Wyatt as he jumped out of bed, eager to get his Spring Break started.

"Ahh, Wyatt! I want to sleep longer! Besides, Spring Break isn't until tomorrow! Give me another fifteen minutes, will ya?"

"Alright, Mom, but I'm coming back in fifteen!"

"Fine, now let me sleep!" I called from under the covers. It looked like my Spring Break was going to start sooner than I expected and keep me on my toes.

An Unconventional Easter

Many families spend their Easter Sundays having brunch or going to church services with family, while others are enjoying their Easter in more unconventional ways. Wyatt and I fell into the latter category this Easter. My brother and his family were all recovering from bad colds, my Mom went to Laughlin with some of her travel buddies so that left Wyatt and I to fend for ourselves this Easter.

After I woke up, I went into the kitchen and asked Wyatt to come help me make breakfast. He really wanted pancakes with strawberries on top so that's what we made. As I sliced the strawberries, he mixed the batter. We chatted about how we wanted to spend our Spring Break and decided to kick it off by going to Knott's Berry farm, the local amusement park. He wanted to bring his friend, Bryant, so I had him make the call while I finished with breakfast.

Amusement Parks

Wyatt and I enjoy going to amusement parks when we have a little extra money to spend. My mother had purchased annual passes to Knott's Berry Farm for us as a Christmas gift. This allows us to enjoy the park as often as we'd like during the year. We enjoy Knott's because the entrance fees are very reasonable (Southern California kids are always $14.95 and adults are $30-compared to Disney's adult price of $55!).

Knott's was also giving away free Spring Break t-shirts to all kids under age 12 with paid admission. Since we had passes, we only brought along $20 to spend. Wyatt's friend brought $20 and was able to have a great time!
