Chess, Anyone?easy it is to learn. A great site for learning is Chessguy!. It offers a clear beginner's explanation of the game from how to set up the board to how to win the game! It offers an interactive tutorial that is quite interesting. Chess has been shown to improve concentration as well as help children do better in math because it helps them think more logically. If you want to really have some fun, open up a copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and flip to the chess game. Set your board up and play the game out. How else could Ron have won the game? What could Harry have done differently? Computer chess has also become another way to play the game. Online chess clubs are everywhere. Game stores offer handheld chess games for travelers. Chess is a game for the entire family and I believe there should be a set added to every household's game shelf. Checkmate!
