  • Hawaiian Trivia: Learn new and interesting facts about the islands.

Luaus are known for their yummy food selections. Why not try these snacks or even make up your own treats using native Hawaiian plants (sugar cane, pineapples, etc)?

    Food Ideas
    Ham and Pineapple Roll-Ups

    • slices of ham lunch meat
    • canned pineapple chunks
    • umbrella toothpicks
    • festive paper plates

    What you do:
Just take a slice of ham and put a chunk of pineapple in the middle. Roll it up and close with an umbrella toothpick and serve on a festive paper plate for a tropical treat!

    Tropical Party Punch
    • rainbow sherbet
    • 7-Up or any other lemon-lime soda
    • red punch (we like the original Hawaiian Punch)
    • canned pineapple rings
    • orange sliced into smiles (half-moon shapes)
    • strawberries or raspberries
    • large festive plastic cups

    What you do:
Mix sherbet, soda and red punch in a large punch bowl. Plop pineapple rings on top. Place strawberries, raspberries or orange smiles on the side of the cups. Let children scoop and serve the punch themselves.

As you can see, you and your family can have a lot of fun with this activity! You can find tons of web sites devoted to luau parties, Hawaiian culture and history as well as many other arts and crafts ideas with a tropical theme! If you're lucky enough to live near a beach, take a trip down there and watch the hardcore surfers who never miss a chance a catching the big one!
    Enjoy your New Year!
