Single Moms ARE Doing It!Yup, we are out there and we are doing it. We are doing it here, there and everywhere! We are out there making life better for ourselves. Each and every day, we are busy making it happen. Although it is tough at times, we brush ourselves off and carry on. Some of us go one step farther, and have made wonderful contributions to the world of the single mom. Here are six amazing single parent women, who deserve recognition and applause for their great efforts on behalf of the single mom. I have already profiled Kristina Lynn, founder of Raise the Nation on other occasions, so the only thing I’ll say today is, “Have you sent her some money yet?” Check her out at: www.raisethenation.org Teresea McDowell is founder of Insanity House. Although I’ve mentioned her work before, it is worth checking into in you haven’t already done so. I hope you will check her out at: www.insanityhouse.com She is dedicated to providing a collective voice for the single parent family. You will find a message board on her site, and the opportunity to become politically active on the issues that affect single moms. Become a member and help fund her projects. Then there is Maria Evans from New Zealand who is working on a book about the health issues and the single mom. Maria sent me her manuscript, and I reviewed for her. I’ll keep you updated on her progress, and I wish her every success in getting it published! Delia Zaro is yet another single mom out there working to empower and enrich the lives of single moms. She is in the Dallas, Texas area and working on a Special Single Mother Project. She is looking for other single moms in the area who are interested in journalism, professional writing, home decorating, art, or photography. The sky is the limit. If you are in that area, why not contact her? She can be reached by email at bzaro3@aol.com Frustrated by housing problems, single mom, Carmel Sullivan starting an online matchmaking service specifically for the single mom. What a great idea! Think about it, you can find another woman with kids of similar ages, share the costs of housing, offer each other emotional support and even child-care for those occasional nights out on the town. Carmel’s goal is “for single moms to connect, share resources, and create a rewarding lives for themselves” and their children. She can be found at www.co-abode.com
