Firstly, there are some rallies planned to protest how the courts are our handling cases. Too many protective parents, mostly women have found that their pleas for protection of their children have fallen on deaf ears in the courtroom. Women are being jailed for refusing to hand over their children to molesters. Mark your calendars, ROCKAMERICA, has set the dates for their annual rally.
These rallies are for the rights children and protective parents. Our purpose is to inform the public and its representatives that it is becoming commonplace for the rights of father’s (and occasionally abusive mothers) to be placed above the rights of children to grow up in a safe and secure home.
The father’s rights agenda is behind much of this travesty. Fatherhood mania has gripped the nation. Fathers are held out as the cure all for society’s problems. We are told in court ordered “parenting courses” that our children are “doomed without daddy” even though they know that “daddy” beats mommy and the children because "daddy" is on the states Child Abuse Registry. These course instructors get their information about the “importance of fathers” from father’s rights websites – hardly balanced, impartial information (I have documentation on this one, this is not merely an allegation.) Mainstream media jump on the bandwagon and spread these lies further. We know that this propaganda train must be stopped. We know that there is plenty of research out there that does not support the idea that fathers are absolutely essential to the well being of children, and that joint custody is answer in ALL cases. And we also know that unless this truth is heard, accepted and embraced, children will continue to be placed in harms way because judges endorse the idea that all kids, under all circumstances need a dad no matter how profoundly perverse, or dangerously violent he may be.
Courts have actually given custody to father’s who have been found guilty of physical abuse and even pedophilia. Ample, unsupervised, visitation is almost always ordered with little thought to the fear that children have of these monsters they are forced to call dad. Already one child has killed himself because a judge ordered visitation to his abusive father and ordered that he “enjoy” it or else the mother would be jailed! THIS TRAVESTY HAS GOT TO STOP before there are any more lives destroyed because of the unfounded and unshakeable belief in the essentialness of fathers.
