As Christmas approaches, my thoughts often turn to those in need. I think about how fortunate I am, and I recognize that at this time of year poverty must seem an even greater burden to bear. While I may struggle at times (hey - no one's life is perfect), I know that there are many with far, far less than I.
If you have been blessed by a reasonably good standard of living, then I hope you will consider sending them a $5.00 donation. Of course they would accept more, but their goal is based upon this modest request, with the hopes that you will get two more friends to also donate $5.00. Their dream is to raise $5 million to fund this project. Corporate sponsorship is available, and if you have no money to give, you should know that volunteers are also needed. You might even want to consider purchasing some of their merchandise as a gift in order to help them raise the funds. What a unique gift that would make! The recipient could use their coffee mug , mousepad, or wear their T-shirt with the knowledge that it helped fund a very worthy project. For further information, please check out their link: http://www.making-ends-meet.org There is also information there on how to apply for assistance if you are in need of help for small things. Assistance is granted based upon financial need. These mini-grants are expected to be from $300.00 to $800.00. CONFERENCE: If you are as concerned about what is happening in the courts regarding custody or visitation decisions in abuse cases then you won't want to miss this conference. "Battered Women, Abused Children, and Child Custody: A National Crisis" Held at Siena College, Loudonville, NY (2 miles outside of Albany) January 9 - 10th, 2004 Link: http://www.batteredmotherscustodyconfere... Please feel free to download the brochure and pass on information about the conference to any and all interested groups, organizations, professionals, litigants, and other parties. Spread the word.
