Colours Are Inspirational

The absence of colour would make the world a dull place to admire. Why are many of our homes lacking colour when painting is a reasonably easy and painless activity. Our family moved into our home a year and a half ago and all our walls were the beautiful pristine builders white. A week ago we finally decided on a colour for my oldest sons' walls. It took less than a week to transform an uncluttered but still uninviting room into a Star Wars Paradise.

I decided to paint the wall a beautiful sand colour and accent the baseboards with a rich brown colour. Once the walls were dry it was time to decorate with pictures that were tucked away in closets waiting for colour to make the room come alive. The transformation was unbelievable, my son came home from school and was thrilled with the finished results.

A few tips before you colour any wall is to have a family meeting on areas that affect the family. A child should have a big say in their colour choice. Before they have a choice be sure to put restrictions up front to reduce battles. Another very important tip is to understand colours and the affect it has on the people and their environment. Children bedrooms would benefit from colours that are comforting, warm, and peaceful. An eating area would benefit from colours that encourage peaceful conversations.

These sites will get you on your way to understanding the depths of colour. Enjoy.
