Fun Snacks That Kids Will LoveTired of running to the fast food restaurants on your outings because the kids are tired and you were too tired to prepare a snack that morning. All of the snacks below may be made a couple days in advance and stored in the fridge. Bringing your own snacks will save you money and you will know your kids are eating something scrumptious and nutritious. Pizza Pockets: Buy a package of pie crusts and let thaw to room temperature. Take the crust out of the tin container and unroll the side edges. Grab an empty wine glass or a round cookie cutter and start cutting circles out of the pie crust. Place the circles on a cutting board. Grate 1/4 cup of mozzarella cheese and mix 1/8 cup of chopped pepperoni and 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce. Spoon 1/4 teaspoon of cheese mixture on one half of the circle. Fold the circle over and brush water on the sides and close shut with a fork. Be sure to brush water on the pockets or you will have exploding pockets in the stove. Cook the pockets for 10-15 minutes until the crust is flaky. These are great snacks for the go. Take from the freezer and reheat in the oven or eat them cold. Great snack to take to the parks. Tortilla Roll-Ups: Soften a tub of cream cheese. Mix in 1/4 cups of shredded carrots to 1 cup of soft cream cheese. Spoon the mixture over a flour tortilla. Place thin ham slices on the tortilla and sprinkle with diced parsley. Roll the tortilla and cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least one hour before cutting. Cut the tortillas into bite size pieces put in a resealable bag and enjoy. Breadsticks: Prepare your own pizza dough or buy a bag of fresh or frozen pizza dough. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured cutting board to a 1/4 inch thickness. Rub butter or olive oil into the dough and sprinkle with fresh garlic and cheddar cheese. Cut the dough into long strips and place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven of 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. The longer you bake it the harder the crust. My family enjoys the breadsticks soft and chewy, we bake the breadsticks for 8 minutes. Nature Mix: Combine 1/2 cup of each, peanuts, raisins and chocolate chips. Place in a resealable bag.
