One more week and the awesome holiday of Halloween will be over for one more year. Halloween is a great time of year to decorate the home in spiders and bats and to watch a handful of scary movies. This holiday do some crafts or visit a pumpkin patch with your children. Participate in Halloween before October 31st. The most fun for our family is the preparation and planning, the treats are an incredible bonus after 2-3 weeks of Halloween preparation.

Prepare your home inside and outside pre October 31 with ghoulish decorations to frighten all ages. Make decorations appropriate to the age group of your children. Young children love to make spiders and jack-o-lanterns but dismembered body parts are for the much older child. Place a few Halloween items out each day to surprise the neighbours and yourself. By October 31 your home will be full of frightful decorations that can be used in tomorrow's Halloween.

Halloween recipes are gruesome but usually taste great. Make spider bread or eyeballs. Whatever your choice have your child participate in the food preparation and enjoy these few short weeks of unexplained food items on your plate.

Costumes may cause some stress in your home. My child is continually changing his mind about his costume. We have made a few homemade costumes that are made in less than an hour by making homemade masks or rummaging through the closets for old costumes. Keep the new Halloween costume away until the big day, to ensure the novelty has not worn off. Another idea, is to buy a few costumes after Halloween for pleasure during the rest of the year. Many costumes are reduced by 75% and are a great creative outlet for your child.

Halloween games are fun for all children. Toss bean bags into a jack-o-lantern or bob for apples. Create your own games incorporate the spirit of Halloween. You may hide miniature ghosts all through the house or make a haunted maze in your basement. Have fun whatever games you choose.

Participate in all the pleasures of Halloween and have a spooktacular holiday. A very helpful book for all your Halloween needs is Halloween Treats: Recipes and Crafts for the Whole Family.
