The Other Hand

Grab a pencil and paper and about 30 minutes of quiet, uninterrupted time. Be sure the phone is off, the kids are nicely tucked in their beds and daddy is busy watching his favourite game on television.

Journal Writing With Your Other Hand

Journal Writing is great for getting your thoughts and ideas on paper. Sometimes our mind decides not to write all the truths even in our journals. Writing with your non-dominant hand, taps into your subconscious--your true self. You will be amazed in your first session, what your non-dominant hand has been waiting to say. Begin writing.

  1. Write down a list of 5 traits of yourself with your right hand.
Respond to each trait with your left hand. Let all the feelings come forth and do not worry about great penmanship.
  2. Need an answer to a question. Write the question down with your right hand.(ex. Why do I fear being with large groups of people?)
Before thinking of a response, place the pencil in your left hand and begin writing the answer.
  3. Journal your thoughts with your left hand and see what the paper says to you.

Writing with my non-dominant hand is a great experience to say hello to my true self. It gives me an avenue to express myself without judgement.
