Spring CleaningLooking out the window, I see the signs of spring and I am anxious to enjoy the great outdoors without my parka. Only one chore before the spring is mine to enjoy, I must do an overhaul of my home. I need to clean the kitchen, living room, bathroom and every other little crook and cranny in my home. I will not head out to the discount store and buy a half a dozen cleansers instead; I will clean my home the natural way. A great springtime tip is to open the windows and let the fresh air in. I have listed other handy tips to clean your home. Enjoy the spring clean up!! Note: These are homemade cleaners but are still unsafe to children. Please keep out of children's reach. Use the same safety standard as commercial products. Better safe then sorry. KitchenAll-Purpose Kitchen Cleanser: Dissolve 1 teaspoon of borax with 1 cup of hot water. Add 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 1/4 cup of liquid soap. Mix well and put in a squirt bottle. Great for cleaning countertops, appliances and walls. Ideal product for everyday use. Disinfectant: Use lemon and salt to clean cutting boards. Rub the salt into the board with the juice of half a lemon and rinse clean. Use vinegar to disinfectant cooking areas. Oven Cleaner: Combine 1/2 cup of salt with 1/2 cup of baking soda. Add enough warm water to make a smooth paste and apply to the inside of the oven. Let dry for a couple of hours and rub off. Leave the product on longer for difficult stains. Great alternative. Scouring Powder: Sprinkle baking soda on the area and let sit a couple of minutes and wipe off with a damp cloth. Great for cleaning pots and pans, scuff marks and other difficult areas to clean. Baking soda is not very abrasive. To make a soft abrasive add water to the baking soda until a smooth paste is formed. Use the same way as the scouring powder. Bathroom Tub and Tile Cleaner: Mix 1 cup of baking soda with 1/4 cup of dishwashing liquid and 3 tablespoons of vinegar. Leave the mixture on for several minutes and wipe clean. Great for cleaning the bathroom. Mirror Cleaner: Spray club soda on the mirror and wipe dry. Works great. Floor Cleaner: Mix 1 cup of vinegar with 4 cups of water. Add your favorite essential oil and 2-3 drops of tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is a great disinfectant. Works well for the floors all over the house.
