The History and Traits of the Siamese Cat

The Siamese cat is surrounded by controversy as far as what breed is considered the typical Siamese cat. There are a vast number of breeds (Blue Point, Tabby Point, Red Point, Chocolate Point,Tortie Point, Oriental Shorthair etc.) besides the Seal Point, which are considered the original Siamese. All registries accept not all color breeds of Siamese's. To add to the confusion the Siamese cat takes on different looks all over the world. For example, in America, the standards state that a Siamese should have a white body. In Britain, the body has slight shading. Its life span is between fifteen to 20 years, which is considered a long life span for a cat. The Siamese is a quite intelligent cat, possessing brilliant blue eyes, with a lot of energy and becomes bored quite easily. Chester surely exhibits this trait, as my first article illustrates this point. In fact he will try to acquire my attention if I am absorbed in a task by jumping on my back or rubbing against me. This type of cat is quite communicative. They communicate their wishes through their voice and body. If Chester wants my attention he will hit me with his paw. They relate to humans like no other type of cat. Chester likes to sleep with my husband and me as well as sit at the table with us while we are eating. He also keeps us company while we watch T.V. He interrupted my work while I was writing this article by jumping in the middle of it. While I'm making the bed he jumps right in the midst of the activity. Also it is quite entertaining to watch him chase after a scrunched up piece of paper. In closing, the Siamese cat is a loyal companion. They make great pets as long as you do not mind a cat jumping on top of things and causing a raucous from time to time. Also they are very affectionate and attentive. This type of cat is like a dog. They really love people and tolerate the attention of children. Siamese cats make great pets.
