Valentine's Day

In my opinion there are few finer places on this planet to take the one you love than to Shropshire. Market towns, wonderful scenery, romantic hotels all easy to reach add up to a wonderful place for that very special weekend.

Shropshire Football

Shropshire has been buzzing over the last month thanks to the exploits of Shrewsbury Town. In the 3rd round of the FA Cup Shrewsbury knocked out the Premiership side Everton. This earned a fourth round tie with Chelsea that unfortunately resulted in a 4-0 defeat for Shrewsbury last Sunday. The match was the feature game on the BBC on Sunday evening and the whole country has now heard of Shrewsbury Town and the county of Shropshire.

Ironbridge Gorge Museum

Over at the Ironbridge Gorge Museum I note that the Tile Museum at Jackfield will be closed for extensive renovation. It is not due to re-open until the Autumn. The Ironbridge Gorge Museums are celebrating the award of "Family Attraction of the Year" from the 2003 Good Britain Guide. This month is the beginning of my fourth year writing this column about Shropshire. When I started, I found some difficulty in finding good quality sites providing information about the county. In the last three years, the number and quality of sites has increased dramatically and the county is well represented on the World Wide Web. I hope that this site has fulfilled my original aim of providing a central point from which to access the best information the web has to offer on Shropshire.
