If it's September then it is the Ludlow Food Festival. To give this food extravaganza its full title it is the Ludlow Marches Food and Drink Festival, which draws attention to the position of the town on the English/Welsh border. It is a celebration of local produce and it will take place on the 13/14/15 September 2002.
This, for me, is the highlight of the year and there seems to be more events than ever. As usual there will be the Sausage Trail and the Ox Roast and of course any number of ales and ciders to wash all that food down. This year there will also be a one day conference looking at tourism and rural economies and for more information you can have a look at the website below. http://www.realfoodanddrink.co.uk/ I can highly recommend a visit to the Food Festival. If you are interested in food from local producers, or enjoy a drink then I can think of no other celebration to equal this. For all the information needed check the website below. http://www.foodfestival.co.uk/ IRONBRIDGE ENGINUITY This year there is a new and exciting addition to the Ironbridge Gorge Museums. The Enginuity exhibition gives everyone a chance to be involved in some spectacular "hands on" engineering projects. Recently opened, this new museum is already creating a stir and the site gives a sample of this new type of museum. Check out the site below: http://www.ironbridge.org.uk/v_enginuity... There is also a very good page at the BBC Shropshire site with plenty of information and links to audio downloads covering the opening of Enginuity. http://www.bbc.co.uk/shropshire/features... SHROPSHIRE BOOKS Over the last few months there have been a number of changes here at Suite 101. One of the nice new features is the facility that allows me to recommend books that will add to your enjoyment and understanding of this topic. I have been checking through the large number of books that cover all things to do with Shropshire and I have added three to my topic page. For those of you who read this column regularly you will already know that I am partial to a pint and the book "Short Walks from Shropshire Pubs" is a favorite of mine. I also found the story of Captain Webb, the first man to swim the English Channel, a great read. To check out my recommendations for this month please visit my topic home page at: http://www.suite101.com/welcome.cfm/6302 Once again that is all from Shropshire for this month. As always let me know if there is anything you think I can help with regarding Shropshire. Go To Page: 1 2
