Last weekend Shropshire had some wonderful summer weather and my wife and I missed it as we were in Paris for the weekend celebrating our wedding anniversary. I understand that it was as hot here in Shropshire as in the south of Spain so I take back many of the things I say about the county's weather. This month is probably the busiest in Shropshire with two huge events taking place.
The Shrewsbury Flower Show http://www.shrewsburyflowershow.org.uk/ The Shrewsbury Flower Show is the major event that the town holds, being a wonderful success story over the last few years, and this year should be no exception. For those who are interested in flowers and anything to do with horticulture then the show is a must see. The site gives plenty of information and the Show takes place on Friday 16th August and Saturday 17th August. Just one tip if you are going to visit then please allow plenty of time to travel. A number of years ago I tried to attend the Show traveling from Wellington to Shrewsbury by train but the Show is so popular that the trains were full and it was physically impossible to get on board a train. V2002 http://www.vfestival.com/V2002/pages/ind... This music festival has been growing over the last few years and is now one of the premier music festivals in Britain. Having looked at this great site I started feeling my age as I recognized few of the major bands that will be appearing. Unfortunately, Travis, who I had heard of, have had to cancel and are replaced by The Chemical Brothers, however with an amazing line up this is the only place for music lovers to be in Shropshire. The V2002 will be held at Weston Park on 17th and 18th August. It is such a pity that two such impressive events are being held on the same weekend in August. Not only does it mean that people must choose which to visit it puts a tremendous strain on the county's already stretched transport links. As it was my birthday this month I treated myself to a small digital camera and I am hoping that over the next few articles I will learn how to place some pictures in my articles to show you just how beautiful Shropshire is. Whilst I enjoy using new technology I am no expert and I managed to lose the pictures of my birthday barbeque by pressing the wrong button. I am still working on brightening up my corner of Suite 101 and over the next few months I hope that you will see some changes. Go To Page: 1 2
