Mummies, Soap and FoodThe foot and mouth problems are still with us and combined with poor weather over Easter resulted in disappointing visitor numbers bringing financial worries to many businesses. As I stated last month few visitor attractions have been effected in the county and the reduction in visitor numbers makes this an ideal time for a visit to this beautiful county. Even the weather is improving and as I write this I can see the top of the Wrekin in the sunshine of a fine Spring evening. Foot and mouth latest at http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/shrop... Egypt in Telford Easter is the traditional starting point for most of the attractions in the county as well as the time many of the summer events are announced. One unusual and fascinating event which takes place in May is an exhibition of Egyptian Treasures which will be held in the Telford International Centre 5th - 27th May. With over 300 replicas of the treasures of Tutenkhamun and other Pharoes it promises to be unmissable. Check out the website for more details: http://www.egyptiantreasures.co.uk Much Wenlock in a Lather Coronation Street one of the country's most popular soaps has been featuring a storyline involving Much Wenlock. One of the main characters, Alma Baldwin, played by Amanda Barrie, has found true love and is moving to the Shropshire town with her new man. Unfortunately the scenes used in the soap were not filmed in Much Wenlock but it has created much need publicity for the town. http://www.coronationstreet.co.uk/corona... Ludlow As well as being one of the finest market towns in England Ludlow seems to make more of an effort to promote itself than any other town in Shropshire. Food With the largest number of Michelin starred restaurants outside of London Ludlow has become a Mecca for food enthusiasts.
