Shropshire events are starting to move indoors for the winter so this month features books and beers with Wellington taking centre stage with its annual Literary Festival. Now established as one of Shropshire's literary highlights this month long celebration showcases both local and national writers. Fittingly there will be a talk about The Battle of Trafalgar to coincide with the 200th anniversary of this famous naval victory and Admiral Nelson's death. The full details are available at the site mentioned below. This month also sees the finest Beer Festival in Shropshire being held at the Crown in Oakengates. Martin, a writer, broadcaster and musician, also has an evening talk on the 1st October. Local writer George Evans will be launching his latest book "Window on Wellington" in association with Wellington Civic Society later in the month and there will also be a talk on the Battle of Trafalgar to commemorate the 200th anniversary. Weston Park Horse Trials 5 - 9 October http://www.westonht.freeserve.co.uk/wpaF... This is the showpiece of the equestrian year at Weston Park and features dressage, cross-country and show jumping. For anyone interested in horses this is a must attend event. The site gives details on times, admission prices and everything else you need to know. This site gives details of local live music as well as visits by some well known acts to the county such as The Alex Harvey Band coming in November.
