Another stunning August in Shropshire. The world famous Shrewsbury Flower Show will once again be a place of pilgrimage for those with green fingers. However there is so much more to the Flower Show so check out the site below.
It takes something really special to compete with the Flower Show but V2005 at Weston Park could compete with any event. Always a great treat for music lovers this year Shropshire will be visited by some of the biggest names in popular music, and while I have to confess to not knowing many of the artists even I have heard and enjoyed Oasis. There is much more so check out the details below.
Shrewsbury Flower Show 12 - 13 August http://www.shrewsburyflowershow.org.uk/ The Shrewsbury Flower Show is the major show in the county. Held in the Quarry Park in Shrewsbury, this two day show features many events. This year there will be a guest appearance by mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins who appeared with names such as Eric Clapton and the Manic Street Preachers at the Tsunami Relief Concert at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff. Other attractions include Kim Wilde the TV gardener and a number of marching bands as well as a freefall parachute display. Let's not forget the flowers, some three million blooms will be on show over the two days as well as vegetable displays. The site has details of all the attractions as well as a plan of the showground and how to get there. V2005 Weston Park 20 -21 August http://www.vfestival.com/vfestival/pages... Even an oldie like me knows that when you bring together some of the biggest names in the music business then if it is possible you need to be there. V2005 is going to be the top music event n Shropshire this summer and with the appearance of Oasis it must be ranked as one of the biggest events in the world. Everyone will want to see the Gallagher brothers but there are other great acts appearing. I am reliably informed by some young acquaintances that Maroon 5 are huge and I will take their word for that. As for me I would love to watch and listen to Joss Stone who has a great voice. Add in Franz Ferdinand, from my native Glasgow, Scissor Sister and the one and only Tony Christie and you just can't miss this two day music event. Bridgnorth Folk Festival 26 - 29 August http://www.bridgnorthfolkfest.co.uk/ For those who like their music more mellow and earthy then the Bridgnorth Folk Festival is the place to be. A huge list of artists, featuring the cream of contemporary British folk, is due to appear at this four-day festival in Shropshire. The site has the full list of those appearing and there are also links to some of the artist's web sites. The Festival will also feature Ceilidh bands as well as dance exhibitions. This Festival is growing each year and for anyone interested in the folk scene this is a must visit. Go To Page: 1 2
