With a heat wave then thunderstorms summer has finally arrived in Shropshire. If it is difficult to tell from the weather then the variety of events being held in the county this month can only mean its July.
The summer season of events being held in Shrewsbury takes on a Sixteenth Century feel this month with a Tudor Weekend featuring music and processions and even a visit from Elizabeth I. In the rest of the county we have the Wenlock Olympian Games as well as more art and literary festivals. Shrewsbury Summer Season http://www.shrewsburysummer.co.uk/events... David Starkey is rightly seen as one of the leading historians in Britain. His television programme about "Elizabeth" and the best selling book of the same name brought the Elizabethan age to the general public. It is fitting that he is a part of Shrewsbury's Tudor Weekend. This is one of the biggest musical events ever for Shropshire. Will's huge following will mean tickets are going to be hard to get but I'm sure it will be an unforgettable evening. The site gives all the details. Festival at the Edge 15 - 17 July http://www.festivalattheedge.org/ The annual storytelling festival is here once again.
