June is a month of high flying as well as artistic endeavour in the county. The Cosford Air Show, the English Haydn Festival and the Ludlow Festival all feature in this months article and, with some fine warm weather around, Shropshire is a particularly lovely place to visit this month.
English Haydn Festival Bridgnorth 27 may - 4June This years annual Haydn Festival once again showcases the work of this extraordinary composer. The music will be performed by The English Haydn Orchestra and the site gives details of the programme and the venues. RAF Cosford Air Show 12 June http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/cosford/airs... A highlight of the summer in the county the Air Show once again promises to be a wonderful event. The site gives all the details on how to get there, tickets and what will be happening on the day. As usual there are a large number of attractions including the Red Arrows, the RAF Falcon Parachute Display Team, a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and much much more. Shrewsbury Summer Season June - September http://www.shrewsburysummer.co.uk/events... Beginning this month Shrewsbury stages a vast number of events running until September. The site gives details of the programme of events which covers music, theatre, exhibitions and street events. For the visitor to Shrewsbury there will be something going on almost every day of the season. Ludlow Festival 25 June - 10 July http://www.ludlowfestival.co.uk/ Always a highlight of the summer this years Ludlow Festival features a performance of Shakespeare's Richard II. The play will be directed by Steven Berkoff and will be performed in the open air in Ludlow Castle. This magnificent setting adds immensely to any production and it really is a never to be forgotten experience. Also featuring in the programme of events are street festivals on each of the Saturdays of the Festival, wine tasting, lunchtime concerts as well as talks and exhibitions.
