Traditionally Easter in Shropshire is the time when most of the county's attractions and events open their doors for the new season so, with the weather improving, there is no better time to visit.
Below I have tried to feature a varied cross section of events which illustrate the wide range of attractions that the county has to offer. Shropshire Tourism http://www.shropshiretourism.info/ I thought that this month I would give a feature mention to this site. Of the many great sites about the county on the Internet none are better than this. Covering everything you would want to know about Shropshire including accommodation, events and town information, this should be your first port of call for county information. R A F Cosford Easter Extravaganza 29 March - 8 April http://www.rafmuseum.org/cosford/whatson... This site gives details of some events being organised over the coming month featuring science based workshops covering topics such as parachutes and rockets. Weston Park Spring Horse Trials 16 - 17 April http://www.westonht.freeserve.co.uk/wpsF... The Spring Trials are one of the highlights of the equestrian season in Shropshire and even if you are not a particularly horsey person it will still be a great day out. The site gives full details if you fancy entering the competitions. Shrewsbury Childrens Bookfest 28 April - 3 May http://www.shrewsburybookfest.co.uk/2005... Shropshire is establishing a reputation as a centre for the arts and literature is high on that list with literary festivals in a number of the county towns. This one is slightly different in that it concentrates on the childrens book market. This year the festival will feature, among others, Jeremy Strong author of "The Hundred Mile an Hour Dog", Kevin Crossley-Holland author of the "Seeing Stone" trilogy and Gwyneth Rees author of the award winning "The Mum Hunt". The final site I have selected to feature is more with an eye on the summer holidays than on Easter. There can surely be no better way to see this beautiful county than by exploring the waterways it has to offer. Shropshire Canals http://www.shropshiretourism.info/shrops... If you want to know what attracted Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart to the Shropshire canals then visit this informative site. The Shropshire countryside, quaint riverside pubs and peacefulness come as standard on a canal cruise. Well that is it for another month. By the time you read this my wife and I will be on holiday in Cuba. It is our first time there and we are looking forward to it very much. I will however be back in plenty of time to have next months article waiting for you to read. Go To Page: 1 2
