As Shropshire moves from autumn towards winter the events around the county move indoors to avoid the worst of the weather. The county has everything you would expect and more in the way of weatherproof entertainment from cinema to theatre as well as extensive museums and exhibitions so even when the weather tries its best there is always something for the visitor to do. This month I have the first of the Christmas events as well as a new exhibition about airsports that demonstrate the diversity of what Shropshire has to offer.
http://www.ludlowcraftevents.co.uk/xmasa... This sounds like something not to be missed. Taking place in the grounds of the Castle as well as various venues throughout the town this Fayre brings a glimpse of medieval life to Ludlow. There will be court jesters, minstrels and off course market traders eager to supply you with their wares. The Fayre takes place on the 27 - 28 November and the site gives details and ticket prices. The International Airsports Exhibition 2004 This is something a little different. This exhibition is for those interested in ultra light aviation (micro lights, paragliding and hang-gliding). I have to confess that I know nothing about these pastimes but the site gives details of the many exhibitors that will be at this event taking place on the 27 and 28 November at the Telford International Centre. If you are interested in this then this seems to be an event not to be missed. Shrewsbury Music Hall http://www.musichall.co.uk/theatrenov.htm If you are worried that the weather may hinder your enjoyment of Shropshire then forget it. Among the many indoor attractions the Music Hall in Shrewsbury is one of the best. In November there are a number of musical performances including appearances by Gilbert O'Sullivan, "Buddy Holly and The Crickets" as well as plays including "George Don't Do That" a one women performance in remembrance of the wonderful Joyce Grenfell. The site carries full details of the theatrical events as well as details of the cinema features. Shropshire Hill Forts http://www.bbc.co.uk/shropshire/history/... I came across this site via the excellent BBC History site. The aerial pictures of these hill forts are great and allow one to see the remains much more clearly than if you visited the actual site. The Iron Age era has left its mark on Shropshire and this site reminds us just how long people have lived in this part of England. Shrewsbury's Ghosts http://www.shrewsburytourism.co.uk/shrew... I am just finishing this article on Halloween and am reminded that the area around Shrewsbury has its fair share of ghost stories. This site tells a few of the rather weird tales of the area.
