The Shropshire Wildlife Trust are trying to raise £1 million in order to purchase the Wrekin and to ensure its upkeep. The site gives details of the appeal and how to donate your money as well as providing an insight into the work that the Trust does throughout the county. I urge everyone to make a donation.
Ludlow Marches Food and Drink Festival

The premier event of the month. Since it started 10 years ago this Festival has grown in popularity and influence. Displaying local produce in such a picturesque setting was an inspired idea and the reputation of Ludlow as one of the finest towns for food lovers in the country has helped to make this one of the major events of its kind. The Festival runs from 10 - 12 September.

An event close to my heart. Although I am a confirmed lager drinker I always enjoy this festival. The enthusiasm and range of knowledge that is usually on display makes it an interesting event and I have even been known to try some of the stranger brews on offer. For those who take beer seriously or for those who just want a good time this is the place to be on the 10 - 11 September at the Music Hall
Shropshire Heritage Open Days

Heritage Open Days provide free access to properties not usually open to the public or that normally charge an entrance fee. This year there are over 20 sites or activities being provided in Shropshire and the BBC site gives full details. In my opinion the most interesting site is the lead mine at Snailbeach which includes a trip underground. The open days in Shropshire are being held between 10 - 13 September.
