An old favourite for the summer the Much Wenlock Olympian Games will be held at the very attractive little town between 9 - 12 July. The link gives details of the various events and as always if you are in the county then I urge you to visit this historic event.

This exhibition runs from 16 July - 31 October . As well as featuring the world famous Coalport china the exhibition will focus on the women who worked at the factory as well as those women who inspired some of the pottery. The link above gives an overview of the exhibition.
Shrewsbury Summertime
http://www.shrewsburysummer.co.uk/progra...
I have not been aware of such a programme of events as this in past years. It seems that at last Shrewsbury has decided not to be out done by the other towns such as Ludlow, Much Wenlock and Church Stretton. The site lists a vast array of events being staged in and around Shrewsbury throughout the summer and if you are visiting then there will be something for you here.
Church Stretton Festival
http://www.strettonfestival.org.uk
One of the many fine arts festival that are held in the county throughout the summer this one features poetry, opera and art. Held between 24 July and 7 August again this event is worth visiting and the site gives full details of all the individual events.
The Wrekin For Sale
http://portal.telegraph.co.uk/global/mai...
I came acros this article by chance and was amazed that there seemed very little coverage in Shropshire. I have found little real substance to the idea that Tolkien used the Wrekin as inspiration but he certainly visited the area on many occasions and anything is possible.
The link below is to the estate agents that are selling the Wrekin and provides details of the propery.

This link is frivolous but fun, if only it was true!!!

Well that is it for another month. The summer always brings the best out of Shropshire and I can only urge any of you thinking of taking a break in the UK to consider Shropshire as a destination. I hope that the monthly articles here have given you an idea of just how much this beautiful county has to offer. Until next month have a great time.
Regards,
John Neill
