Flying High in June in Shropshire

In the words of the famous song "June is bustin' out all over" and with it some of the best events that Shropshire has to offer in the whole year. From the festivals of Ludlow and Much Wenlock to the Cosford Air Show this is an event packed month not to be missed. Below I list just some of the highlights of this great month in Shropshire.

Shrewsbury Summer Season

Not to be outdone by Ludlow or even Much Wenlock Shrewsbury is staging a number of events throughout June covering drama, music and the unusual. Among the later is a range of events such as The Shrewsbury Kite and Boomerang Festival to An Evening with Ian Duncan-Smith (former leader of the Conservative Party). Cosford Air Show 13 June

A highlight of the year in Shropshire, and not just for those interested in aircraft, this exciting event draws huge crowds each year and is a must visit event for anyone in the county. This year there will be displays from the Red Arrows and RAF Falcon Parachute Team as well as the chance to see some vintage aircraft. The site gives details of ticket price, themes for the show as well as how to get there and much more.

Ludlow Festival

This is the premier arts festival held in Shropshire and has become rightly famous for staging spectacular performances of Shakespearian plays in the grounds of Ludlow Castle. This year the plays will be Twelfth Night and Cymbeline. As well as the drama there will be numerous musical performances. West Mids Show 2004

Held in Shrewsbury this celebration of rural life is great entertainment for all the family. There are a number of events featuring horses, sheep, goats, poultry and even flowers which are held over two full days 26 - 27 June. Much Wenlock Festival

The centrepiece of the Much Wenlock Festival this year will be the performance of King Lear that will be staged on the Church Green. There will also be a number of musical performances and the Festival is held 6 June - 27 June. The site gives full details of all the performances.

This is only a small sample of the many events being held in Shropshire this month. All over the county there are any number of local events and the visitor to Shropshire is spoilt for choice from Air Show to Shakespeare to Agricultural Show.
