Shropshire prepares for Autumn with a good read.

The weather has been fantastic over the last couple of months with temperatures higher than many places in the Mediterranean. However all good things come to an end and the last couple of days has reminded me of the onset of Autumn.

This time of year sees many of the outside events come to an end and Shropshire begins to prepare for winter. As I have said many times before this is a good time to visit the county because many visitors have gone and there will be the occasional brilliant weather which can be spectacular if you are out on the hills or walking around the wonderful towns such as Ludlow or Shrewsbury.

Below are some of the more interesting or entertaining sites I have found on the internet which are connected to Shropshire.

Ludlow Markets

This nicely designed site gives details of when the markets take place and has links to some of the local producers which means that you might be able to enjoy the produce without visiting the market by ordering on the net.

Heart of England Fine Foods

http://www.heff.co.uk/

This site complements the Ludlow site giving details of markets throughout the Midlands and links to local producers.

Bishops Castle

http://www.bishopscastle.co.uk/tourism/i...

This is one of a number of new sites which are being produced by some of the smaller towns and villages in the county. Well designed and with a lot of local information and local history this is an ideal site if you intend visiting the south of the county.

Church Stretton

Another good site which provides a great deal of information about this part of the county. Situated close to the Long Mynd and Wenlock Edge it is the ideal place for those who enjoy walking in the spectacular Shropshire hillsides.

Newcastle-on-Clun

http://www.newcastle-on-clun.com/

Another local site which is well though out and has a very good sense of humor, especially the "Unofficial Visitors Guide to Driving in South Shropshire". It also has good information for both locals and visitors.

Wellington Literary Festival

http://www.wellington-shropshire.gov.uk/

I thought I would give you some advance notice of this annual event. This year Kate Adie, the renowned war correspondent, is the major guest this year. And will launch her new book at the Festival on 1st October. There are a number of events throughout the month of October in this growing literary festival.

Darwin Country

http://www.darwincountry.org/

This is an incredible site which covers a vast range of topics related to the county. If you click on the Trail link you are presented with links to a huge range of images of the county through the years. This is how sites on the internet should be.
