Shareware Shoot 'em UpsWarning: If you're not male, probably this week's article won't have any appeal to you. Yes, you've got it. Finally, I'm writing an article on something I hate: "shoot 'em up" action games. These games are usually characterized by excessive violence and macabre imagery. They are, in my opinion, a totally annoying way to spend time, but my husband loves them. I have never played any of these three games, but with their high sales and download rates, my guess is that some readers may appreciate these links. :-) Quake II - Requiring several floppy disks for download, this game is excessively popular. You can't get Quake II via shareware, but you can get v1.06. Registration costs are $49 for the full version of Quake II. Duke Nukem II - From the manufacturer "n this latest saga, Duke Nukem, while being interviewed on TV about his best selling book, "Why I'm So Great", is suddenly abducted by aliens. Duke's alien captor explains that Duke's brain will be drained of all his knowledge, which will be used to formulate a master plan to seize control of Earth. Duke has two choices: He can be turned into a zombie by the EncephaloSucker, or 'kick-butt' like there's no tomorrow!" Registration, or the full version, is $34.95 Unreal Tournament - Still another wildly crazy action game. Check it out at this site, then head here to register it for $29.99.
