Raspberry Leaf for Everyone!

Red Raspberry Leaf is not just for pregnancy. Although this herb is most commonly used during pregnancy to has a lot of beneficial properties to women who are not pregnant, going through menopause, suffering from PMS, retaining water etc… It is also valuable to Men. Yes, men! Read on and find out how and why.

Raspberry leaf is used in pregnancy because of its regulating effect on the hormones and uterus. For Pregnancy it helps the womb to become a strong and health muscle, which is essential to an easy and straightforward birth. Raspberry leaf can be safely drunk throughout ones entire pregnancy. Drinking it before conception can help fertility. Some books say that because of its ‘stimulating’ effect on the uterus it should not be drunk until after the first 12 weeks. I haven’t found this to be the case. Raspberry, like all herbs, is a smart herb and have the ability to ‘talk’ with your body. It knows that during the first three months contractions are not a good thing for your uterus and will help to relax and balance the muscles of the uterus and surrounding tissues. Yet in the last trimester when your womb is preparing for the Big Show it knows that contractions are now a good thing and will help your uterus to prepare for them. Raspberry is a tonic, which means it does what’s naturally in balance for your body.

Raspberry is also a hormone balancer, it regulates and cleanses the blood of excess hormones, therefore it is recommended during times of hormone flux, such as PMS, Pregnancy, and Menopause. Headaches, moodiness, over active emotions, even painful cramping, and other symptoms of these ailments can all be caused by an imbalance of hormones in the body. Drinking Raspberry leaf tea will help to flush out any excess of hormones in the blood helping to relieve all of these symptoms.

This is why it is also beneficial to men. Men have hormones too, and although society doesn’t feel that men’s hormones run their lives the way women’s do, men are just as susceptible to imbalances of hormones as women. Blood cleansing can be just as beneficial to headaches, moodiness, and over active emotions in men as in women.

For men, as in women, Raspberry is a nourishing reproductive tonic. It is a rich source of iron and is used in cases of an iron poor diet with nettles. It contains high amounts of Niacin, and Manganese. Niacin, or Vitamin B3, is essential for cell respiration, metabolism, proper circulation, healthy skin, nervous system functioning, memory and the normal secretion of bile and stomach fluids. Manganese is a trace mineral that is used for healthy connective tissue; bones and cartilage; it is also a factor in energy metabolism, as well as the absorption of Vitamin C.
