The Crown Chakra

The Crown chakra is the seventh and final chakra. It is located at the top of one's head right in the middle. When babies are born they have a soft spot in their skull over the crown. This is because the head needs to compress to fit through the birth canal and also it is believed babies are still connected to the divine with a much stronger connection through this spot. As the spot hardens they forget the Divine.

The crown is where our bodies connect to the spirit world and the divine energies of the universe. As I mentioned in the Brow article I use these words to cover all religions and faiths. Whatever you believe in the crown connects you too it.

Like the Root that points straight down into the Earth, the Crown Points straight up into space and sky. It is violet, white or gold in colour and is connected to all elements and all senses. This is the chakra where our personal auras mingle with the universes'.

Like the brow chakra it is a very personal place to work with and I find it difficult to give much advice on improving or working with the crown. In the tree meditation the crown is the sky and everything surrounding the tree.

How each of us connects and feels our faiths is a deeply personal experience and I don't want to hinder anyone's by creating to many set visions or meditations.

Because the Crown is connected to all aspects of the body it can be worked with under any of the circumstances mentioned in the previous six articles. It is especially useful to work with when one wishes for deeper knowledge and connection to the divine and creation. Many healers draw down energy through the crown when working with clients as well as at the same time drawing energy up through the earth. This helps to create a balance of "as above, so below" and roots a person in the earth while allowing one to explore higher realms.

The chakras can be worked with individually or all together, as in the tree meditation that is now complete. Whether working with them individually or together it is best to start with the root chakra and work up the body towards the crown. This insures a strong secure foundation. Some techniques begin at the top of the head and move down to the feet, Reiki is one example. This is also okay because a large portion of the technique involves ground at the feet at the end. This too creates a secure foundation.
