The Chakras: The Brow

The Brow chakra is also known as the third eye and is located between the eyebrows where the nose meets the forehead. It is probably the most well known of the chakras. Even people, who don’t know a thing about chakras or auras, will have heard the third eye referred too.

It is the center of intuition and higher knowing. Its colour is indigo. It has no element or sense because this chakra has moved beyond mundane things to higher purposes. It is related to the eyes and both hemispheres of the brain.

With the Brow we can learn to see more than just the shapes and movements around us to the hidden under the surface meanings of life. We can see beyond humanity to the connection we have to spirit and the universe. We can see spirits, fairies, angels and Goddesses and Gods with a practiced third eye.

With the third eye we can learn to connect both halves of our brain and use both our logic and creativity together for higher learning. A trained third eye will improve one’s psychic abilities, clairvoyance, telepathy and ESP.

An unbalanced brow can lead to headaches, nightmares, vision problems, and ringing in the ears, as well as a feeling of being disconnected from spirit and the universe.

In the tree meditation the brow is the branches of the tree reaching up and striving for the heavens. One can picture the leaves of the tree swaying in the wind and touching the world of angels. I find it difficult to suggest more for working with the brow because we’ve reached a place of ethereal spirituality that is very personal and profound for many people. Each of us will look at the world of spirit differently and therefore work with their brow chakra in a unique and special way.

When I work with my third eye I see angels and spirit helpers, they help me to learn more about my connection to the universe and higher powers. They teach me about oneness and belonging. And yet I am still a single person, one pebble among millions on the cosmic beach. This is the paradox of the brow chakra.

A note: I refer to many times in this article, ‘the universe’, ‘higher power’ etc… I do this because I believe that all peoples faiths have merit and deserve recognition, yet listing all the names of God’s and Goddess each time I suggested their presence would be time consuming and annoying. Therefore I leave it open for one to replace ‘higher power’ with a name of their own choosing.
