Early Weeds

are lighter green than and not shiny like poison ivy leaves, plus they attach to the stems differently. Poison ivy leaves are generally grouped in threes.

More early weeds next time. See ya' later!

More Information

  • Some "weeds" are edible. If you're interested in munching on wild provender, you'll find out how vitamin rich some are on the Ascorbic Acid and Vitamin A Content of Edible Wild Plants of Ohio and Kentucky page.

  • If you've found garlic mustard on your property, be sure to read the Nature Conservancy's excellent page on Alliaria petiolata. You will learn everything you need to know to fight this invasive weed.

  • I know we all consider all the weeds in our gardens noxioius, but some are truly odious and have gotten listed as such. Prarie Frontier, who sell wildflower and grass seed, have a searchable Noxious Weeds By State page where you can find those listed for your state.
