Ivy makes a prodigious root system over time, tough and woody and deeply delving. Digging it out is a real chore. But, if you decide to remove some from a place it's been for some years, it will not return from roots left in the ground once the major stems and leaves have been eliminated....unlike many colonizing plants I can name. More ivy next time...see ya' later! More Information - For those of you who aren't that familiar with latin names and who have a sound card installed on your computers, the HomeArts Gardener's Library has a nifty vocal pronounciation feature...try it for Hedera helix.
- Fascinated by ivy? Join the The American Ivy Society. Their web site tells you how plus provides some information on ivy.
- Want some neat ivies of your own? Hedera, etc. isn't online, but you can email them at Hedera etc.. Or you can phone: (610) 970-9175...or send $2.00 US for their catalog to:
Hedera etc.
