Synopsis:
In their first deep space encounter with an unfamiliar ship, the Enterprise crew makes a chilling discovery that tests their nerves and their human instincts. The ship’s 15-member crew has been slaughtered and strung up to the ceiling, attached to a device that collects fluids from their bodies. At first Archer decides to leave them where they are, fearing a fight with the killers, who are clearly returning, would result in the loss of his crew as well. Later, however, his human instinct to help takes over and he takes the Enterprise back, risking life and limb to return the corpses to their people.

The Society Angle:

“Fight or Flight” is about two things: adaptation and a sense of duty. Duty to those you have agreed to serve, and duty to those who need your assistance.

Starting with point one, adaptation can be one of the hardest things a person has to do. Anyone who has ever lived or spent extended time in a foreign culture
