Life As We Don't Know It (Part 2)who lives on Madagascar?
CALL THE EXTERMINATOR! Now that we have seen a realistic portrayal of mankind's first encounter with alien life, let's get ready to take a look at a less credible one. At the beginning of this article, way back in Part 1, I mentioned the blockbuster film Independence Day. This was a really fun movie. I've seen it several times and, despite the excessive similarities to V, feel that the creators of the film did a great job of reviving general interest in science fiction. But let's face it, this is not how we are going to encounter alien life. We'll be talking more about ID4 in Part 3 of "Life As We Don't Know It," which will be published four days from now. But first, come back to visit us in two days for reviews of both the Contact novel and film. And until then, feel free to check out some of the other articles and book reviews here at Science Fiction and Society, or hop on over to the Summer Sci-Fi Siesta where you'll find articles by other sci-fi, fantasy, science, and culture editors here at Suite101.
