Dragonlaugh Doesn't Work

© Rickey R. Mallory

Dragonlaugh is a thrice yearly webzine which features humorous swords-and-sorcery stories and artwork. It is published in April, August and December by Possum Press. Dragonlaugh was named one of the "50 Best Places to be Published Online" by the January 2001 Writer's Digest.

Upon looking at the page, it's difficult to understand why Writer's Digest would single out this little zine. Two of the stories in the April 2001 issue quite good, although the weird, underlined and italicized and centered formatting of the first story was quite distracting. Unfortunately, all the other stories were unreadable, due to screwed up code. I'm a diehard Netscapeophile, so I tried it in IE just to be sure it wasn't a site that was incompatible with Netscape, but no, the stories were unreadable in IE also.

Dragonlaugh is published by Mark W. Johnson of Possum Press. The zine pays, although marginally.

I can't recommend this zine as is, but I'll be glad to re-review it later if Mr. Johnson and/or whoever can get their act together. I'm interested in finding out what Writer's Digest saw in it.

I would welcome comments.
