Indulge Your Taste With Electric Wine

Electric Wine is another of the webzines I'm beginning to call 'slick,' using the term that's used for the more expensive and well-put-together print magazines. It is published six times a year, and contains short stories, articles, editorials, poetry, and some absolutely stunning artwork.

EW's splash page is beautifully laid out, with their attractive logo, lovely cover art, their issue number information, and a table of contents.

Upon entering Electric Wine, the reader is presented with an embarrassment of riches. Page one is chock full of stuff, and bleeds over the screen width unless you have your screen set to full size (which I don't.) Mostly ad banners are on the far right, though, so you aren't missing much.

The stories and poetry are well done and well-edited. Individually designed backgrounds and or artwork which actually pertain to the story add to your pleasure as you read.

The editorials are interesting and even insightful.

A few nits to pick. Their medium blue on black titles, while attractive, are difficult to read on many monitors. A lighter blue or another color would be better.

A cleaner first page might be nice, although having "In This Issue" down the center is clever and makes the site simple to navigate.

I love that more and more webzines are taking themselves seriously, with volume and issue numbers, making them look like what they are . . . real magazines.

Electric Wine is a class act. It will go on my list of must reads for each month.
