Dive into Deep Outside

Deep Outside Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror (DOSFFH), Clocktower Fiction's magazine, first appeared on April 15, 1998, and claims to be the Internet's oldest SF/F/H magazine that pays SFWA rates to its writers.

Deep Outside's home page, which is also its masthead, is striking, with bright green on black. The layout is eye-catching, with a slick look, and simple navigation. They have their volume and issue number, and month right there on the front page, something that is missing from a lot of webzines. You know immediately that this is an up-to-date site.

The editors are committed to web publishing, as they mention in their 'about' column. To prove this, they offer their stories for download, in Rocket eBook, Palm Organizer, or Acrobat Reader format, as well as offering to send it via EMail.

Deep Outside posts a story on its website, and offers to send a new story to your in box each month. They have a substantial list of past stories, featuring such writers as A. L. Sirois, who also reviews movies for them, and an impressive list of editorials.

Their submission guidelines are clear and concise. They do only accept print submissions, a phenomenon which still exists for webzines, but is rapidly going away.

The magazine is a production of Clocktower Fiction, an electronic book publisher. They are located at http://www.clocktowerfiction.com/Outside/

Deep Outside has earned an extra star from me. I'm changing its rating from 4 stars to 5 stars.
